Private Lessons

...because eventually you'll have questions and those YouTube videos won't answer you
(no matter how nicely you ask).
Hi! My name is Dave DeMarco and I've been giving private bass instruction here in Maryland for over 20 years. I've helped players from all walks of life - from kids and teens who want to play in the style of their favorite adult "weekend warriors" who want to close the gaps in their knowledge professional musicians looking to bump up their playing a few notches.

We all know there are some very good instructional videos out there (I've even put up a few of my own) which can be helpful when used in conjunction with a customized lesson plan. But these videos are not intended to replace the immediate feedback and personalized instructional content that comes with private instruction.

The reason I've been successful at this is because at whatever level you are - I've been there. I remember what it was like trying to get my fingers to do the impossible and how cool it sounded when I finally nailed the bass part in a song I'd been working on. I also remember the feeling of making the transition from the bedroom to the stage and later from part-timer to full-time working musician. Here's another reason - since no two people progress at the same rate, I'm always mindful of the pace. You'll have plenty of material to keep you engaged but not overwhelmed.

When you're looking for expert guidance, experience counts. So does education. I started with private lessons back in grade school and then attended The Peabody Institute during my highschool years. After graduation, I attended Berklee College of Music where in addition to learning oodles about all aspects of creating and performing music, I learned a lot about the realities of the music biz.

Your place or mine?

Come to either of my two locations or stay home and we'll do it by Skype or FaceTime.
Most of my in-person lessons take place Monday through Saturday at my home studio in Burtonsville, MD. I also teach at Orion Studios in Baltimore on the last Thursday of the month.

These days live online lessons are all the rage but some folks are still skeptical. They feel it'll be a watered-down lesson experience. Not so. We'll cover the same material and you can clearly hear and see everything I'm doing. See for yourself with a FREE 30-minute webcam lesson!

Whichever option you choose, you'll have a personalized lesson plan tailored to meet your specific goals and needs. No McLessons here!
